Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
The outcome of this match seems straightforward: the second team from the top of the table faces the second from the bottom. Both teams desperately need points—one to distance themselves from the chasing opponents, the other to save Martí Cifuentes from dismissal.
Burnley
Burnley are eager to secure a victory following three draws in their last five outings. Most frustratingly for them, points were dropped against less formidable opponents: Oxford United, Preston North End, and Hull City—the only team they managed to score against during this period. On the positive side, they have conceded just one goal in their five matches, that coming from Hull City in the last round.
Queens Park Rangers
Queens Park Rangers initially paired goals with success seamlessly, scoring in each of their first six rounds and managing to sit in a respectable 14th position. Then things went awry. Were they only facing the top sides? Not quite. They faced West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield United, and much-expected Luton Town. They lost only to the first and beat the last. However, in their past five matches, they’ve endured four defeats, each time conceding at least two goals, including against the outsider Portsmouth.
Burnley vs Queens Park Rangers Prediction
We expect nothing less than a Burnley victory, and not by just 1:0. If Portsmouth and Hull City can both score two goals against Queens Park Rangers, then Burnley are certainly capable of the same.
