Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
This is Sheffield United’s final realistic opportunity to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League. Anything less than a win could all but end their hopes of a top-two finish. The current gap between them and Burnley is five points.
Burnley
The long-standing pattern of strong home form continues for Burnley: 12 wins and 9 draws in 21 matches at Turf Moor. Only one of their last seven home games has ended in a draw. They have conceded just twice over that stretch. With such defensive solidity, few teams manage to score more than once against them. This also explains why Total Under 2.5 has occurred in 7 of their last 10 home fixtures.
Sheffield United
After Matchweek 39, Sheffield United briefly led the standings and appeared set for promotion. On paper, their run-in looked favourable—aside from this encounter. However, recent performances have been disappointing, with defeats to relegation-threatened opponents: Oxford United (0:1) and Plymouth Argyle (1:2). Both losses came away from home. Sheffield United still rank second in the away standings—behind only Burnley—but these recent results raise legitimate concerns. The primary issue is their lack of attacking output: they’ve scored no more than once in four of their last six away matches.
Burnley vs Sheffield United Prediction
Burnley won the reverse fixture 2:0 at Bramall Lane. We expect both of Burnley’s key home trends to continue: at least a draw and a low-scoring result at Turf Moor.
