Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Leagues Cup match.
C.F. Monterrey
Monterrey were handed a difficult schedule. In the first round, they came up against top-seeded FC Cincinnati and narrowly lost (2:3). They then edged past New York City FC (2:1 on penalties), despite dominating the second half with sustained attacking pressure: 10 shots, five on target, and an xG of 0.9.
Charlotte FC
Charlotte have lost both of their matches and, frankly, even the single point they collected seems unearned. After a heavy 1:4 defeat to FC Juárez, the squad showed some fight against Guadalajara, losing 2:3 on penalties, but their two goals came from a combined xG of just 0.14. Such overperformance is clearly unsustainable.
C.F. Monterrey vs Charlotte FC Prediction
Monterrey will be determined to sign off with a positive result and offer their fans something to celebrate after a disappointing campaign. Charlotte have struggled to find the net, let alone pick up a win. It's hard to imagine them posing a real threat to Monterrey, who should be expected to take all three points from this match.
