Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP London match.
In the opening round of the prestigious ATP 500 grass-court tournament in London, Cameron Norrie will face Jakub Mensik. Despite Norrie holding the higher ranking, it is the young Czech who enters the match in stronger form.
Cameron Norrie
Cameron Norrie has struggled notably, particularly on grass. Since the beginning of 2024, he has managed just three wins from seven matches on the surface. He has suffered defeats to players ranked well outside the top 200, including a loss in London to Milos Raonic (No. 441). While Norrie performed well in May—reaching the semi-finals in Geneva and the round of 16 at Roland Garros—those results came on clay, not grass.
Jakub Mensik
Jakub Mensik has made marked progress this season. He has shown consistency against opponents ranked outside the top 50, winning 10 of his last 14 matches. Though his grass-court record since last year stands at just two wins from seven matches, his current level appears sharper and more dynamic than Cameron Norrie’s. His serve is his main asset: an aggressive game style and shortened rallies suit the quicker conditions of grass. So far this season, Mensik averages 15 aces per match and wins 78 % of points behind his first serve.
Cameron Norrie vs Jakub Mensik Prediction
At this point, Jakub Mensik appears the more convincing of the two. Cameron Norrie is lacking in rhythm, form, and confidence on grass. The young Czech looks poised for a breakthrough and has the serving consistency to capitalise. While this match could go the distance, Mensik is positioned to take the win.
