Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Roland Garros match.
For Camilo Ugo Carabelli, this marks an important milestone — for the first time in a while, he enters the main draw at Roland Garros without needing to go through qualifying, which is already a noteworthy achievement. However, a straightforward start is unlikely: he faces experienced clay-court specialist Jaume Munar, who has hit form ahead of the May tournaments.
Camilo Ugo Carabelli
The Argentine is comfortable on South American clay but has struggled during the European leg of the season. Despite increased match play at Challenger level, Camilo Ugo Carabelli has yet to record any significant wins on the ATP Tour. His performance against top-50 opponents on clay has been underwhelming, with only four wins in his last 15 matches. Even in head-to-head meetings with Jaume Munar, he has claimed just one victory — and that came in his hometown of Buenos Aires, where the conditions and support were more favourable.
Jaume Munar
Jaume Munar has found excellent form on clay. In May, the Spaniard played five matches on the surface at ATP level and won three, including a strong performance at the prestigious Masters 1000 event in Rome, where he reached the fourth round. During the tournament, Munar served 17 aces across four matches and secured wins over two top-25 players — Sebastian Korda (No. 23) and Ben Shelton (No. 13).
Camilo Ugo Carabelli vs Jaume Munar Prediction
Jaume Munar has timed his peak well for Roland Garros and delivered a solid run in Rome, competing on equal terms with some of the tour’s best. He is expected to build on this momentum and come through with a win, thanks to his more consistent game and superior current form.
