They faced two of the league’s top-four sides and managed to score in both games, which is particularly impressive given Burnley had kept 12 consecutive clean sheets. Against Sunderland, Cardiff found the net from just 0.50 xG and six total shots, with only two on target. They have now scored in six straight league matches, albeit only managing one goal per game.
Luton Town
Luton, on the other hand, have struggled badly in attack. They failed to score in four of their last six matches, blanking against Sunderland, Sheffield United, Burnley, and Watford. Their issues in front of goal extend even further, having also struggled against Preston North End and Millwall earlier in the season. In their last outing, they endured a humiliating 0:4 defeat to Burnley, a stark contrast to their Premier League journey just a year ago.

Cardiff’s greater attacking ambition, even against superior opponents, gives them the edge in this clash. Their defensive record is concerning, conceding an average of 1.6 goals per game, but Luton’s weak attack means the hosts can realistically aim for a clean-sheet victory.
