Sunderland are about to start their third consecutive season in the Championship. The side will try to prove they deserve promotion right from the start as their fans are longing for a derby against Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Cardiff
The one-month pre-season had a positive effect on Cardiff. In the eight friendlies they had five wins with a total score of 17:3. In these matches, the disciplined defence stood out, which almost didn’t allow opponents to create chances. In none of the friendly matches Cardiff conceded more than one goal.
Sunderland
In the first season after returning to the Championship Sunderland reached the playoff, but in the past campaign the team fell back to the middle of the table.
