Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
Celta Vigo were in scintillating form in their last outing, dismantling the semi-professional side Unionistas Salamanca (7:0), and will approach their upcoming encounter with Mallorca in high spirits. The visitors, on the other hand, suffered a heavy defeat at home to Barcelona (1:5) and will be eager to redeem themselves. Fortunately for them, Celta Vigo are not particularly strong defensively, which might present scoring opportunities.
Celta Vigo
Celta Vigo have been performing well in recent fixtures, especially on home turf, where they've only succumbed twice, both times against Madrid clubs—Real Madrid (1:2) and Atlético Madrid (0:1). Their main strength lies in their attack, having scored in 13 out of 15 matches this season. However, their defence is less sturdy, conceding an average of 1.8 goals per game. Historically, their head-to-head meetings with Mallorca have also been defensively problematic for Celta, conceding in five consecutive encounters.
Mallorca
Mallorca's form has been inconsistent, alternating wins with losses, with the most recent being a heavy defeat to Barcelona (1:5). Away from home, their record mirrors this inconsistency, with four victories and three defeats. Nevertheless, they managed to score in five of their seven away games. The Islanders often adopt a cautious approach, with 14 out of their 16 matches ending with a total under 3.5. This trend was also observed in their last four encounters with Celta Vigo, where no more than two goals were scored. However, at Estadio de Balaídos, Mallorca have consistently found the net in six consecutive matches.
Celta Vigo vs Mallorca Prediction
While Celta Vigo perform well at home, Mallorca are also a formidable opponent on the road. Both teams have been scoring consistently in recent matches and neither are known for their defensive prowess. Hence, we’re sure that both teams will score.
