Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Spanish La Liga match.
Celta had a great pre-season that might make fans hope they can fight for a top-10 spot in La Liga. Alavés lost Samu Omorodion, who was on loan, so they need to find another key forward. But first, the team should fix their poor defence.
Celta
Celta sold their Danish forward Jørgen Larsen, but their attack still looks good. They could score 50+ goals this season. In pre-season games, Greek forward Anastasios Douvikas played well (3+0). In seven friendly matches, the team scored 15 goals, scoring in every game. Against West Ham (2:3 after penalties), Celta played new players Borja Iglesias and Ilaix Moriba. The team will create more chances to score with them.
Alavés
Alavés had a not so good summer. Samu Omorodion and Giuliano Simeone (both on loan from Atletico) left the team and Javi López was sold to Real Sociedad. The team's new hope is 18-year-old forward Luka Romero. He hasn't played well in senior football yet. In eight friendly games, Alavés didn’t concede goals only twice. This shows they have problems in defence.
Celta - Alavés Prediction
Since April 2021, Celta has scored 10 goals in five games against Alavés. It looks like Celta Vigo will start the season well. They are expected to win and score at least two goals.
