Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
Celtic will finally play their rescheduled 24th-round fixture, originally set for a weekend between the last two rounds of the Champions League group stage. That break benefited the team, allowing them to advance to the knockout play-offs.
Celtic
Celtic returned to domestic action like the rest of the league at the start of February, comfortably dispatching Motherwell (3:1). They even had another goal disallowed, but their attacking form remains relentless. Excluding European fixtures, Celtic have scored in six straight league matches, winning five of them. The only team that managed to halt them during this run was Dundee, who held them to a dramatic 3:3 draw.
Dundee
Dundee came incredibly close to an upset in that encounter, with Celtic only salvaging a point in the 93rd minute. They continued their strong run by defeating Dundee United in the Scottish Cup last 16 but then suffered a humiliating defeat at home to Hearts (0:6) last weekend. Manager Tony Docherty apologised to the fans, acknowledged the criticism as justified, and even cancelled the squad’s scheduled rest day. He pointed to the two early goals conceded within the first 20 minutes as the key factor in the collapse.
Celtic vs Dundee Prediction
After such a humbling loss, Dundee’s players will be desperate to redeem themselves and restore some pride. They will also have a point to prove after letting victory slip against Celtic in their last meeting. While an away win at Celtic Park remains a tall order, their determination should at least see them find the back of the net.
