Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
Celtic have started the new campaign in typically dominant fashion and look set to continue their charge toward a fifth consecutive league title. Livingston, freshly promoted via the Championship play-offs, have made a respectable return to the top flight — but Celtic are a different calibre altogether.
Celtic
Celtic opened their league season with back-to-back clean-sheet wins: a narrow 1:0 against St. Mirren and a more comfortable 2:0 against Aberdeen. They followed that up with a commanding 4:1 win over Falkirk in the League Cup. However, a 0:0 home draw against Kairat in the Champions League qualifiers sparked frustration among supporters. Despite a quiet summer in the transfer market, Celtic still boast the deepest and most talented squad in Scotland. Even without marquee signings, they remain firm favourites domestically and have yet to concede a goal in league play this season.
Livingston
Livingston have shown some early fight — drawing 2:2 with Kilmarnock and beating Falkirk (3:1) in the league — but their League Cup elimination by Hibernian (0:2) served as a reminder of the gulf in class when facing Premiership heavyweights. Livingston's away record remains a major concern: they failed to win a single away fixture in their last top-flight campaign and went 18 away matches without a win overall. Their recent record against Celtic is equally dismal — seven straight defeats with an aggregate scoreline of 3:19.
Celtic vs Livingston Prediction
Celtic's defensive solidity and superiority in quality should once again prove decisive. Livingston have consistently struggled to create chances against top-tier opposition, and it’s hard to see that changing at Celtic Park.
