In the new season many neutral football fans will eagerly watch Chelsea, whose team rebuild took all summer. The updated team, now led by new coach Enzo Maresc, who previously worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant, will face Manchester City.
Chelsea
Chelsea could beat only one opponent in four friendlies, conceding 13 goals. This shows their defence problems. However, the coaching staff is focusing on developing in attack, where Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku should regularly create chances for forwards. In the final pre-season match against Inter Milan (1:1), the London players attacked a lot (21-6 on shots) and rightfully drew at the end. They will be counting on the same story on Sunday.
Man City
Manchester City won only once in four final games and one of them was against Chelsea, where Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick (4:2). But against Manchester United in the Community Shield, the Norwegian barely received passes from his teammates. However Man City managed to get active due to the substitutions, Bernardo Silva scored a header supporting the attacking actions of his side. In the first tour Pep Guardiola will try to use the strongest players in the lineup, that’s why Kevin De Bruyne and others will be too dangerous.
