Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NHL match.
As the regular season winds down, the Chicago Blackhawks are locked in an unlikely battle with the San Jose Sharks — a race to the bottom of the standings. The Colorado Avalanche, on the other hand, are pushing toward familiar territory, currently sitting fourth in the Western Conference and chasing a stronger postseason seed.
Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks have made that downward trend look deliberate. They have dropped nine of their last ten games, with their only victory coming in an outlier against the Philadelphia Flyers (7:4). Outside of that win, the Blackhawks haven’t scored more than three goals in any of their recent outings.
Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche were among the teams to capitalise on the Blackhawks’ slide, shutting them out 3:0 on 10 March. That match saw Scott Wedgewood record his second shutout of the season. This time around, there’s every chance Jared Bednar turns to his No. 1 goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood, who has been exceptional of late. In five of his last six starts, Blackwood has posted a save percentage of 92.3% or better — all above his season average of 91.6%, which ranks sixth league-wide.
Chicago Blackhawks vs Colorado Avalanche Prediction
The Avalanche have scored at least four goals in four of their last six matches, and if that trend continues — as expected against one of the league’s softest defensive units — it should be more than enough to seal another routine win.
