Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WNBA match.
The two teams head into this clash in completely opposite situations: the Chicago Sky sit near the bottom of the standings, while the Las Vegas Aces are flying high in the top three and riding a 10-game winning streak. This will be their first meeting of the season, and for the Sky it promises to be a serious test.
Chicago Sky
The Chicago Sky have lost six of their last seven games and sit at 9-27 overall, just one win clear of the Dallas Wings in the basement. Their home record is equally grim at 5-14. Most recently they fell 84:94 to the Connecticut Sun. The standout is rookie Angel Reese, averaging 14.5 points, 12.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists. But offensively the team is limited, ranking 12th in the league at 76 points per game. Defensively they concede 86.4 on average (11th), with particular weakness on the perimeter — opponents shoot 36.8% from three, the second-worst mark in the league.
Las Vegas Aces
The Aces are in top form, sitting at 24-14 and on a 10-game winning run that has pushed them into second place. Their road record is 10-9, but they’ve improved recently, beating the Washington Mystics (91:81) away. Star forward A’ja Wilson leads the way with 23.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, while Chelsea Gray contributes 5.2 assists. The Aces average 82.8 points (7th in the league) and concede 82 (8th). Defensively they are far more reliable on the perimeter than the Chicago Sky, allowing just 32.7% from three.
Chicago Sky vs Las Vegas Aces Prediction
The Chicago Sky are in crisis, relying almost solely on Angel Reese while struggling badly on defence. The Las Vegas Aces, in contrast, are balanced, confident in closing games and currently red-hot. The gulf in class is clear, and the Aces should win comfortably.
