Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA 1000 Rome match.
The quarter-final game between Coco Gauff and Mirra Andreeva will be one of the top games along with the Aryna Sabalenka vs Zheng Qinwen match. The winner of the Gauff vs Andreeva game will face exactly the winner of the Sabalenka vs Qinwen match.
Coco Gauff
The opponents have three titles this season, with one won by the US player and two won by the Russian one. Gauff could have recently won one more but failed to beat Aryna Sabalenka (3:6, 6:7). In Rome, Gauff beat 18-year old Victoria Mboko. It wasn’t easy, though. The game lasted for three sets and Coco needed 24 games to win.
Mirra Andreeva
Mirra Andreeva turned 18 several weeks ago. However, she had become a strong player long before that. She reached the Roland Garros semi-finals last year and won two prestigious tournaments in 2025, in Dubai and Indian-Wells. Then she faced a decline. The best she managed to achieve was a quarter-final game in Madrid, where she was beaten by Coco Gauff (5:7, 1:6).
Coco Gauff vs Mirra Andreeva Prediction
The US player wins 3-0 in the head-to-head games. She has never let Mirra Andreeva be close to the victory. Gauff is in a good form now too. So she can win this match again.
