Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Copa América Femenina match.
Colombia are still short of the points required for automatic qualification to the knockout stage, but they now face Bolivia — a squad that has consistently struggled in defence throughout the tournament.
Colombia (women)
Colombia currently trail Venezuela in the group standings. Both squads are level on four points, but Venezuela have played one match more. Their superior goal difference was largely secured thanks to a commanding 7:1 win over Bolivia. Colombia, by contrast, were held to a goalless draw by Venezuela, leaving the group finely balanced. Prior to securing a win in the previous round of the Copa América Femenina, they were enduring a concerning spell of attacking inefficiency, having scored no more than once in each of their previous seven fixtures. That run produced just one victory. However, it came against high-level opposition, including Japan, South Korea, and Mexico.
Bolivia (women)
Bolivia, in contrast, have looked thoroughly out of their depth. Not only have they failed to win or draw in their last 12 outings — all losses — but they have also conceded heavily. Although many of their 2024 defeats came in friendlies against similarly ranked teams such as Peru and El Salvador, the current tournament has laid bare a significant disparity in quality. Over their last five matches, Bolivia have been beaten by an aggregate score of 2:27, with each loss coming by at least a four-goal margin.
Colombia (women) vs Bolivia (women) Prediction
These two sides have rarely crossed paths in competitive play, with their most recent meeting taking place in the 2022 edition of Copa América Femenina, where Colombia claimed a routine 3:0 victory. A win for the Colombian team again appears the most likely outcome, though a repeat of the heaviest defeats for Bolivia seems unlikely. Given the circumstances, a significant handicap in favour of the underdogs may represent good value.
