Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NHL match.
The Colorado Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings are locked in a close battle for a top-four seed in the Western Conference. The Avalanche currently hold fourth spot, but the Kings are just two points behind and could leapfrog them with a win. However, the Kings’ form on the road leaves a lot to be desired.
Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche are surging at the right time, winning five of their last six games. That stretch includes dominant performances against playoff-level opponents such as the Ottawa Senators (5:1) and the Dallas Stars (4:3 OT). They are particularly formidable at home, riding a 10-game winning streak at Ball Arena — in nine of those, they scored at least three goals. The team’s stars are delivering: Cale Makar and Valeri Nichushkin have combined for 14 points (6+8) across their last five appearances.
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings may have recovered from their mid-season slump, but their away form remains a serious issue. They’ve managed just three wins in their last 12 road games, and for the season have picked up only 33 points from 37 games away from home — ranking 12th in the West. The Kings also average three goals conceded per road outing. Their record against the Colorado Avalanche is bleak as well: four losses in the last five meetings, conceding an average of 3.8 goals per game.
Colorado Avalanche vs Los Angeles Kings Prediction
The Colorado Avalanche are flying at home and finding the net with ease. The Los Angeles Kings are unreliable travellers and struggle historically against the Avalanche. A home win looks very likely — the only question is whether to back it in regulation. For safety and value, a straight win still offers a solid return.
