Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NHL match.
On 11 January, the Winnipeg Jets secured a home win against the Colorado Avalanche (3:0), marking their second shutout over them this season (the first being a 1:0 win in November). However, when the Jets travel to Denver, it never seems to end well.
Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche have easily dealt with the Jets at home in their last three encounters. They faced each other four times last year, including in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. At that time, the team confidently advanced to the next round (4-1), with two games ending in dominant victories for the hosts (6:2, 5:1). Just before the New Year in 2025, the Avalanche delighted their fans with another strong showing (5:2).
Winnipeg Jets
While the Jets rightfully lead the Western Conference, their unbeaten runs of around ten games at the start of the season are a thing of the past. Through December and January, they managed only a four-game winning streak in December and a three-game run in January. Now the Jets are on a mini losing streak against less formidable teams: the Calgary Flames (1:3) at home and the Utah Grizzlies (2:5) away. Even their most recent victory over the Seattle Krakens could only be praised for Connor Hellebuyck's performance in goal, saving 17 out of 18 shots, while his teammates converted just two of their 36 attempts.
Colorado Avalanche vs Winnipeg Jets Prediction
With such a drop in scoring, the Winnipeg Jets can expect little success in the Rockies. They are certain to concede goals, especially with NHL's top scorer Nathan MacKinnon in form (scoring in four consecutive games—3+3), making it an almost guaranteed defeat.
