Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
After their triumph in the Supercoppa Italiana, AC Milan couldn't secure three points at San Siro against Cagliari (1:1). Their trip to Serie A newcomers Como might not go according to their plan either, but Sérgio Conceição's staff are capable of rectifying any issues swiftly.
Como
In the last round, Como managed to snatch a draw against Lazio (1:1), struggling to capitalise on their advantage following the Romans' sending off (1.77 xG and four shots on target). After losing Nicolás Paz to injury, they are without one of their key attackers, a squad already lacking in execution. They have underperformed in expected goals by three clear shots. The main problem for the Serie A newcomers remains their defence — Como have the worst discrepancy between xGA (23.70) and actual goals conceded (31).
AC Milan
It is likely that AC Milan will seek to recruit an attacking player during the winter transfer window, as the Álvaro Morata and Tammy Abraham partnership falls short for a top-four battle. The Spaniard did score against Cagliari, but the Milan side registered 2.43 xG over 90 minutes with the Sardinians. Overall, including their away Super Cup match, Milan have secured six wins in their last eight away games.
Como vs AC Milan Prediction
Despite the constant dropping of points, AC Milan still have a chance to break into the top four. The trip to Como should yield crucial points for the visitors — the Portuguese manager will motivate his players to deliver.
