Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Conference League match.
Neither of these teams are heading into this match with strong competitive rhythm. Copenhagen have not played a competitive match in nearly two months, while Heidenheim, despite being active in the Bundesliga, are in poor form with a string of defeats.
Copenhagen
The Danish Superliga went on winter break on 19 December, meaning Copenhagen have only played friendlies in the meantime. They finished the first half of the domestic season at the top of the table, but only ahead of Midtjylland on goal difference. Their group-stage campaign in the Conference League ended disappointingly, with a defeat to Rapid Vienna (3:0) in the final match, dropping them to second place.
Heidenheim
Heidenheim enter this fixture on the back of four consecutive defeats, which has firmly pushed them into the relegation zone in the Bundesliga. Their last two home matches ended in losses to an inconsistent Borussia Dortmund (1:2) and relegation rival St. Pauli (0:2). Their away record is dreadful, with no wins in their last seven matches on the road, managing just one draw in that period.
Copenhagen vs Heidenheim Prediction
Even though Copenhagen lack competitive action, Heidenheim’s poor form and struggles away from home make them vulnerable. The Danish champions should have enough quality to secure victory, even against a Bundesliga side.
