Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Danish Cup match.
Copenhagen closed out their Superliga season with a flawless run, securing maximum points to narrowly edge out Midtjylland in the title race. On Thursday, they will look to cap off a successful campaign with a trophy when they meet Silkeborg in the Danish Cup final. For Silkeborg, simply reaching this stage marks a notable accomplishment.
Copenhagen
Sunday’s emphatic 3:0 win over Nordsjælland was Copenhagen’s seventh victory in their last eight matches. Since 13 April, they have played ten games, scoring two or more goals in seven of them. The attacking output has been shared effectively among experienced forwards Mohamed Elyounoussi, Jordan Larsson, and Viktor Claesson, who have combined for 22 goals and 13 assists in the Superliga. In the Danish Cup, they booked their place in the final by defeating Viborg in the semi-finals (2:0 on aggregate).
Silkeborg
Silkeborg’s route to the final was far more dramatic. They secured a 3:3 draw away to Brøndby in the first leg of their semi-final, before edging the second leg 2:1, with Jens Gammelby scoring a late winner. Manager Kent Nielsen has had to navigate a string of injuries, with five players unavailable. Fielding a rotated lineup, the team closed out their league season with a 2:1 loss to Viborg.
Copenhagen vs Silkeborg Prediction
The newly crowned national champions are widely expected to see off a side that finished in the lower half of the standings without much trouble. Since December 2023, Copenhagen have scored at least twice in each of their last seven encounters with Silkeborg.
