Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Coventry City and Birmingham City are neighbours in the upper reaches of the standings. With a win, either side could go second.
Coventry City
On Matchday Six, Coventry City faced a much sterner test than Birmingham City. They travelled to Leicester City, which made it the M69 derby. The hosts posed the greater attacking threat thanks to their wing play down the flanks, but their forays came to nothing. As with the other eight, the most dangerous effort—a one-on-one for Stephy Mavididi—was kept out by the goalkeeper, so the goalkeeper was deservedly named Man of the Match. It ended in a goalless draw, and Coventry City remain unbeaten alongside leaders Middlesbrough.
Birmingham City
Birmingham City have already lost twice, yet they have conceded fewer than Coventry City—five to seven. In the previous round it could also have finished goalless, but in the 94th minute a substitute headed home from the centre of the penalty area against Swansea City. The forward had come on seven minutes before the goal. Overall, five of the team's six league matches this season have seen under 2.5 goals.
Coventry City vs Birmingham City Prediction
Before their relegation to League One, Birmingham City beat Coventry City (3:0) at home, but the previous three meetings finished with under 2.5 goals, which points to another low-scoring game.
