Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Mark Robins was finally relieved of his duties at Coventry City after 7.5 years. Interim manager Rhys Carr will lead the team in front of their home crowd. This is the second challenge for the 38-year-old specialist. Can he rise to the occasion? Perhaps he could be confirmed as the permanent manager if the club wins.
Coventry City
The Welshman passed his first test as Coventry City avoided defeat against league leaders Sunderland away (2:2), coming back from a 0:2 deficit at half-time. The team stuck with the 3-4-1-2 formation but managed their chances far better than in Robins' last match against Derby County (1:2). Previously, they scored one goal from 1.23 xG, but now they netted two from just 0.66 xG. However, they still allow opponents to convert half-chances: Derby's two goals came from 0.40 xGA, and Sunderland's from 0.66 xGA.
Sheffield United
Second-placed Sheffield United also know how to make the most of limited opportunities. Consider their recent two-match stretch. In the penultimate round, they triumphed at Bristol City (2:1) using almost one xG unit less for those goals. In the latest round, they won the Sheffield Derby against Wednesday with one goal scored from 0.50 xG. Sheffield United rarely concede, allowing just half a goal per game on average and keeping ten clean sheets.
Coventry City vs Sheffield United Prediction
Things are much more stable in Sheffield's camp, so the visitors will score no more than their usual two goals and will avoid defeat.
