Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the EuroLeague match.
After a disappointing previous campaign, Crvena Zvezda look intent on making amends. In the opening round they face Olimpia Milano, who have won the last two meetings. This is a timely chance to respond.
Crvena Zvezda
Crvena Zvezda recently finished third at the VTB United League Super Cup. In the placement game they defeated Dubai (82:80). The tournament suggested that the management used the summer well. New signing Chima Moneke made the All-Tournament Team after averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. He looks set to make a genuine impact rather than simply provide depth.
Olimpia Milano
Olimpia Milano currently pose more questions than answers. The management have moved to replace Nikola Mirotić with Devin Booker. However, the newcomer has featured only two times and has come off the bench in both, which limits his immediate impact. In addition, Josh Nebo has returned to the squad; however, in the Italian Cup outing against Virtus Bologna he posted only 1 point, 4 rebounds and 1 assist.
Crvena Zvezda vs Olimpia Milano Prediction
Crvena Zvezda look the better prepared for the season. They have played two elite-level games and performed well. The coaching staff have identified errors that should be corrected. With the home crowd in Belgrade behind them, the team can start with a win.
