Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Nations League match.
The head-to-head match between the Czech Republic and Georgia will determine the fate of a spot in the Nations League's elite division. In a parallel match, Albania could leapfrog the competition to claim the top spot by defeating Ukraine, but both the Czech Republic and Georgia are unlikely to take risks: a sound defensive performance is their priority.
Czech Republic
The Czech Republic have seen total under 2.5 goals in their last three matches in a row—over the weekend, their encounter with Albania (0:0) did not yield any goals. In Tirana, they managed just 0.40 xG with two shots on target, allowing 0.36 xGA—the coaching staff is focused on maintaining a calm tempo. The suspension of Adam Hložek and Tomáš Souček will pose a challenge for the Czechs, as constructing attacks without these key players will be much more difficult, so all attention will be on defence.
Georgia
Georgia's streak with total under goals has reached four games, and over the last 270 minutes of play, they have only scored once. Against Ukraine (1:1), their counter-attacking style again faltered: opponents have become accustomed to his low block and the fast breakthroughs of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze. In Olomouc, the five-man defence will stay tight in their box, putting all hopes on the individual skills of their leaders upfront.
Czech Republic vs Georgia Prediction
Both teams value the result here dearly, so they will primarily focus on defence, especially given their struggles in attack. In such a match, betting on a total under is advisable. There won’t be more than two goals in this contest.
