Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the US Open match.
Daniel Evans
Surprisingly, Evans managed to stay in the elite division for quite some time despite his mediocre results. However, his recent downfall has been swift and devastating. This year, Evans has lost 17 out of 20 matches in the main draws. His performance on hard courts has been particularly poor, as the Briton hasn’t managed to beat more than one opponent in any event.
Karen Khachanov
Khachanov's preparation for the US Open can be considered satisfactory overall. The Russian likely didn't expect much more from his matches against Alexander Zverev and Matteo Arnaldi, but his victory over Francisco Cerundolo in Cincinnati (6:0, 6:3) is promising. Moreover, the US Open is a special tournament for Karen, as it was here he reached his first Grand Slam semifinal in August 2022.
Daniel Evans - Karen Khachanov Prediction
When assessing the chances in this match, it’s more about Evans' weaknesses than Khachanov's strengths. Evans rarely wins against opponents who are even below Karen's level. We’re taking the handicap on the favourite.
