Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Eastbourne match.
The Eastbourne tournament holds particular significance for Daniel Evans, who made his debut here in 2009 and returns 16 years later as a wild card entrant. He begins this year’s campaign against Miomir Kecmanovic, a player who has defeated him in both of their previous encounters.
Daniel Evans
Daniel Evans is well-suited to grass courts, with 110 wins from 183 career matches on this surface, giving him a 61% win rate. In June, he claimed victory in four of seven matches on grass, winning an average of 69% of points on his first serve. Of note, five of those matches extended to at least 25 games. While Daniel Evans has lost both previous meetings with Miomir Kecmanovic, he managed to win at least one set each time.
Miomir Kecmanovic
In contrast, Miomir Kecmanovic is enduring a difficult season, recording just 13 wins in 27 matches. His recent form has been particularly poor, suffering first-round eliminations in three of his last four tournaments. At Roland Garros, he was eliminated in the second round by Arthur Fils (No. 48). It’s also worth noting that the Serbian often finds himself in extended matches—he has dropped at least one set in four of his last five appearances.
Daniel Evans vs Miomir Kecmanovic Prediction
Daniel Evans performs strongly on grass, and the home crowd will provide added encouragement. Miomir Kecmanovic comes into the match with inconsistent form and has previously struggled in encounters with Evans. A tight and extended contest is anticipated, with the match likely to go beyond 23 games.
