Adam Williams presents his prediction for the Xi'an Grand Prix snooker match.
Daniel Wells
Daniel Wells has finally broken his streak of long matches at the Grand Prix in Xi’An. Wells won in the deciding frame against Ali Carter 5:4 and Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 5:4, and also beat Julien Leclercq 5:3. But in the quarter-finals, the Welshman thrashed Dominic Dale, who had played very poorly. After the match, Dale said that he would retire after this season for medical reasons, so Wells' victory is not so significant.
Barry Hawkins
Barry Hawkins has been winning since his first match of the season, when he lost to Zhou Yuelong 4:6. Barry won two qualification matches and in Xi'an beat Ryan Day 5:3 and Mark Allen 5:3. Barry does not have many big breaks, but Hawkins plays carefully, not taking risks where it is not necessary.
Daniel Wells - Barry Hawkins Prediction
This will be the first meeting between Hawkins and Wells since 2019, and Wells won that match, by the way. Hawkins is the favourite, but I think we are looking for a tense match. Both players rarely crush their opponent, so I think we will see at least eight frames in this quarterfinal.
