And in the qualifiers, Wells beat Ali Carter 5:4. Daniel's matches are tough, he has to fight for frames. Wells lost the other two qualifiers, so he is taking this tournament very seriously, as he can earn ranking points here.
Dominic Dale
Dominic Dale completely unexpectedly beat Shaun Murphy 5:2, and Shaun was in very good form, but it was Dale who went through. Before that, Dominic beat Noppon Saengkham 5:3. We might not have seen these victories, because Dale beat Mohammed Mustafa Shehab in the qualifiers only in the deciding frame 5:4. Dale is in the same position as Wells, Dominic lost other qualification matches and now has to fight for ranking points in Xi'an.
