Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2023 ATP Finals match.
Daniil Medvedev
In the match against Rublev, Medvedev performed well, hitting 10 aces with three double faults, winning 83% of first-serve points and 50% on the second serve. It was also encouraging that Daniil saved all seven breakpoints, displaying remarkable composure. If Medvedev continues to play at this high level, he has the potential to contend for the title in Turin. Zverev is a familiar and comfortable opponent for the Russian, with Daniil winning 10 out of their last 12 encounters. Today, Medvedev is rightfully considered the favourite once again.
Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev defeated Alcaraz on November 13th (2-1) after losing the first set. Zverev played at a very high level against Carlos, hitting 16 aces, landing 77% of first serves, winning 79% of first-serve points, and 50% on the second serve. However, it's worth noting that Alcaraz's performance was not at its best. Medvedev excels on hard courts, and the head-to-head history favors the Russian player.
Daniil Medvedev vs Alexander Zverev prediction
Daniil Medvedev started the Finals with a convincing victory over Rublev (2-0). Now, Russia's top seed needs to win one of the two remaining matches. Daniil had already defeated Zverev a month and a half ago in Beijing, where Alexander couldn't even reach five games in any set.
Medvedev, who convincingly defeated Rublev, should confidently secure a place in the play-offs.
