Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP Beijing match.
Daniil Medvedev
Despite the dip and a recent frustrating defeat to Yibing Wu in Hangzhou, Medvedev has generally performed well in Beijing. He has seven wins in nine matches in the Chinese capital over his career, with both a semi-final and a final appearance. However, the Russian often drops sets, especially on hard courts. Daniil has lost at least one set in six of his last nine matches.
Cameron Norrie
Norrie has been up and down. At the US Open he took a set off Novak Djokovic, and in Washington he beat top-10 player Lorenzo Musetti. However, he was eliminated in Chengdu by Yi Zhou. Cameron often goes long, taking at least one set on hard courts in seven of his last nine matches. His main weapon is the first serve: on hard courts he averages 74% first-serve points won and five aces per match. Norrie also met Daniil Medvedev recently, pushed him hard and beat him over five sets.
Daniil Medvedev vs Cameron Norrie Prediction
Daniil Medvedev is highly motivated and holds a significant stylistic and head-to-head advantage on hard courts. However, Cameron Norrie will make it a real contest and is capable of forcing a tie-break. We expect a long match with at least 22 games.
