Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Miami Masters match.
Daniil Medvedev and Jaume Munar will meet for the first time in their careers, and while the Russian enters as the clear favourite, this may be a more challenging match than expected. Medvedev is still searching for rhythm after a patchy start to the season and a semi-final loss in Indian Wells, where he was tested heavily by Holger Rune. Munar, meanwhile, has looked sharp and brings a powerful first serve into the clash.
Daniil Medvedev
Medvedev has yet to hit top form in 2025. He suffered second-round eliminations at both the Australian Open and Rotterdam, and then lost in the third round in Marseille, Doha, and Dubai. His best result so far came in Indian Wells, where he reached the semi-finals but lost to Holger Rune. One of Medvedev’s key issues this year has been his first-serve percentage, which has averaged just 56% over his last seven matches — well below his usual standards.
Jaume Munar
The Spaniard, ranked No. 56, opened his Miami campaign with a confident 6:3, 7:6 win over Arthur Rinderknech. Munar was solid from the baseline and didn’t face a single break point. On hard courts this season, he’s been particularly effective on return, converting 17 of 32 break points in his last six matches. Even more impressive is his first-serve consistency, landing 69% across 13 matches in 2025.
Daniil Medvedev vs Jaume Munar Prediction
Munar has already settled into the tournament and is playing high-percentage, controlled tennis. Medvedev remains inconsistent and tends to struggle when his opponents pressure him early, especially if his serve is not firing. While the Russian still has the edge in experience and shot variety, Munar should be able to keep the scoreline close.
