Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Miami Masters match.
David Goffin has made it through to the main draw, but now faces an enormous challenge against world No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz. After a surprising early elimination from Indian Wells, the Spaniard will be fully focused on delivering a strong performance in Miami.
David Goffin
Currently ranked No. 55, the Belgian struggled in the opening round against Aleksandar Vukic (2:6, 6:4, 6:2), needing to mount a comeback after a poor first set against the world No. 77. Goffin has lost four of his last five matches on hard courts against top-10 players, all in straight sets. His form this season has been inconsistent at best, with five first-round eliminations, and only once reaching the second and third rounds of a tournament.
Carlos Alcaraz
Despite his Indian Wells setback, Alcaraz remains one of the most dangerous players on hard courts. Since arriving in the US, he’s played five matches, winning four of them in straight sets. The Spaniard is 14-3 in 2025, with notable victories over world No. 7 Jack Draper and No. 11 Alex de Minaur. Against Goffin, Alcaraz already holds two head-to-head wins — on hard court in Australia (6:3, 6:3) and on clay in Nice.
David Goffin vs Carlos Alcaraz Prediction
Alcaraz is likely to take control from the opening rally and won’t allow Goffin to drag him into long exchanges. If the Spaniard serves well, Goffin simply won’t have the firepower to stay competitive. A combination bet on Alcaraz to win and the total games to stay under 18.5 looks like a smart choice.
