Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the MLS match.
DC United
DC United currently have the worst goal difference in the Eastern Conference and the second worst across the entire MLS, sitting at –21. A large chunk of that was the result of their 1:7 home defeat to Chicago Fire FC in their penultimate outing — a loss made worse by the fact that Chicago Fire FC aren’t even in a play-off position. DC United are currently 12th in the Eastern Conference, largely due to their poor home form: just two wins in 10 home matches and an average of one point per game in those fixtures.
Nashville SC
Nashville SC are third in the Eastern Conference and have been consistent both home and away — ranking fourth and sixth in those respective categories. They are unbeaten in six straight away matches, winning four and drawing two. That run includes a 2:0 win over Chicago Fire FC. A key factor in their success has been the form of Sam Surridge, who now leads the MLS Golden Boot race with 15 goals. The English striker has scored nine goals in his last five appearances, including a hat-trick in the most recent round against New England Revolution (3-2).
DC United vs Nashville SC Prediction
With the Nashville SC striker in outstanding form, they look well positioned to secure another win — especially considering a 4:1 preseason victory over DC United.
