Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
The Minnesota Timberwolves’ dominance over the Denver Nuggets stretches back to last year’s Western Conference semi-finals and continues into the regular season, with the Timberwolves leading the series (3-0). A win in this clash would see them complete a clean sweep over the defending champions.
Denver Nuggets
Whenever the Nuggets face the Minnesota Timberwolves, their offence seems to unravel — and it’s only worsened over time. The Nuggets scored 116 points in their first meeting, followed by 104 and then just 95 in the two most recent games. Very few teams defend Nikola Jokić as well as the Timberwolves. The Serbian star posts his worst net rating (-18.7) and struggles across all three major offensive metrics when facing the Timberwolves.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves are finding their rhythm at the perfect time, with seven wins in their last ten and the easiest remaining schedule among Western Conference top-eight teams. Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid have been a force — combining for a +32.8 net rating post-All-Star break when on court together. Donte DiVincenzo has also caught fire from deep, knocking down 19 of his last 41 three-point attempts across four games.
Denver Nuggets vs Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction
The Denver Nuggets haven’t yet shown they can consistently score or defend against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Until that changes, there’s little value in backing the reigning champs in this matchup. A small cushion on the spread for the visitors looks like the smart play here.
