Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
The home side made a solid start to the season, collecting 10 points from their first six matches. However, they then faced a challenging schedule, including away games against Getafe, Barcelona, and Real Madrid. Now, they have Real Valladolid, clearly the underdogs, as their opponents.
Deportivo Alavés
It's pointless to blame Alavés for their defeats against Barcelona and Real Madrid. Instead, focus should be on the two goals they scored against Real Madrid and also their 0.83 xG in the match against the Catalans. Yes, the team's defence isn't perfect, but they should be able to handle Real Valladolid, who are clearly a step below in class.
Real Valladolid
The visiting team have failed to win in their last eight matches, managing only two draws against fellow strugglers. Real Valladolid have the league's worst defence, having conceded 19 goals and scored only five, which is also the worst in the league. Their squad clearly doesn't measure up to top division standards, and even at this early stage, after just nine rounds, it's fair to say they will likely be playing in the Segunda División next season.
Deportivo Alavés vs Real Valladolid Prediction
In their last five head-to-head meetings, Deportivo Alavés have emerged victorious four times. Given that the hosts are keen to break their run of three consecutive defeats and will be determined to do so in front of their fans, it's hard to see the visitors taking any points from this encounter.
