Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NBA match.
The Detroit Pistons have put together their longest winning streak of the season – they’re unbeaten in six games. As the new week begins, the Pistons face the Los Angeles Clippers fresh off the road, who are eager to silence the Pistons’ recent run of form.
Detroit Pistons
The Pistons’ winning streak is far less impressive when you consider their opponents. They have beaten the Chicago Bulls twice, seen off the Charlotte Hornets and a struggling Philadelphia 76ers side at home, dismantled the Atlanta Hawks’ porous defence, as well as defeating the San Antonio Spurs without Victor Wembanyama. The bottom line is six consecutive wins against teams outside the top six in either conference, half of whom wouldn’t even make the play-in tournament.
Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers were active in the recent trade window and will soon be showcasing their new-look roster. Kawhi Leonard doesn’t typically play back-to-backs, but that’s flipped this time round – he actually missed the first game against the Indiana Pacers. Furthermore, there’s a chance that their leading scorer, Norman Powell, will return. Even without him, the Clippers now have a solid bench for games without rest. The visitors will be counting on Bogdan Bogdanović’s shooting talent, Ben Simmons’ defensive skills, and the experience of Patty Mills and Drew Eubanks.
Detroit Pistons vs Los Angeles Clippers Prediction
The Clippers are a full five places higher in net rating (offensive rating minus defensive rating) - 9th compared to 14th. The Pistons’ stock is overvalued enough to play the short. We’re betting on a straight win for the visitors.
