Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
Following the appointment of Domenico Tedesco, Fenerbahçe have taken one win from three Süper Lig matchdays, and they now travel to Zagreb to face Dinamo Zagreb. The team have been dropping points domestically, so a bright European debut should not be expected from the squad either.
Dinamo Zagreb
Last season the run of league titles ended for Dinamo Zagreb, who went straight into the Europa League group stage from second place. The team were unbeaten in the league until the end of August, but they then managed only one win across three matchdays. The matches against NK Varaždin (2:2), HNK Gorica (1:2) and HNK Hajduk Split (2:0) did little to reassure supporters about consistency. The win over that club helped Dinamo Zagreb pull away in the standings, but without the departed Martin Baturina, Petar Sučić and Bruno Petković the squad have few options in attack.
Fenerbahçe
Fenerbahçe conducted a major recruitment drive in the summer, yet they still failed to reach the Champions League group stage. In the final qualifying round they lost 1:0 on aggregate to SL Benfica, and the club parted company with José Mourinho as a result. Since that change, Fenerbahçe have rarely produced free‑flowing football: in Sunday’s 1:1 draw with Kasımpaşa, the team surrendered top spot despite having a man advantage.
Dinamo Zagreb vs Fenerbahçe Prediction
Without injured Jhon Durán, Fenerbahçe are unlikely to create many clear chances through Anderson Talisca, Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Marco Asensio, because they have yet to gel. The teams will not combine for more than three goals in Zagreb.
