Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Irish Premier Division match.
After 14 rounds, Drogheda United were top of the standings, but they have now slipped to fourth. Is the team heading into a crisis? Their next test comes against the current third-placed Bohemians.
Drogheda United
A return to the top appears unlikely at this stage, with Shamrock Rovers holding a six-point lead. However, a push for second place remains feasible under the right circumstances. This recent dip in form is primarily due to a disappointing run of three matches without a win. The team drew 1:1 with fellow title contenders Derry City, lost 0:3 to current leaders Shamrock Rovers, and were held to a goalless draw by reigning champions Shelbourne.
Bohemians
Despite sitting only seventh after round 13, Bohemians have climbed to third—a clear improvement. They are currently on a three-match winning run, although the calibre of their opponents invites caution. Their narrow 1:0 win over Shelbourne in the last round deserves credit, but a last-gasp 1:0 victory over bottom side Sligo Rovers thanks to an 88th-minute goal, and a 2:1 win over newly promoted Galway United sealed with a 97th-minute strike, suggest a degree of fortune.
Drogheda United vs Bohemians Prediction
Off the back of their recent winning run, Bohemians have been installed as favourites. However, their performances do not fully justify that status. In their last three league visits to Drogheda, they have failed to secure a win. We expect Drogheda United to come away with at least a draw.
