Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
In the first round, Dundee were competing in the top six, but now even an eighth-place finish seems like a good result for the club. Competing against the champion and league leader in such form will be challenging.
Dundee
Dundee don't lose to everyone, but they have managed only two wins in their last seven matches. They are currently on a two-match unbeaten run. First, they defeated clear bottom-dwellers St. Johnstone away (3:1), and last Thursday, they held Rangers to a draw (1:1) at home, despite the visitors having 77% possession. Dens Park isn’t a cure-all, but Dundee have taken 10 out of a possible 18 points in their last six games there.
Celtic
Celtic are often a nightmare for opponents, but even they have their off days. Right after New Year's, they were not just beaten but thrashed by Rangers in the Old Firm derby (0:3). That was an away match. Celtic have had issues away from Celtic Park: in their last five away matches, they have two wins, two draws, and a loss. The draws were goalless, and one of the wins was by the narrowest of margins.
Dundee vs Celtic Prediction
Therefore, Dundee have a decent chance of at least forcing a draw. However, this is a risky option. A narrow defeat seems far more likely, as Dundee have only been beaten heavily once this season.
