Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Conference League match.
Dynamo Kyiv could hardly have asked for a tougher draw, meeting tournament favourites Crystal Palace at precisely the wrong time. The Ukrainian champions are struggling for form, while Crystal Palace are flying high — even toppling Liverpool in the Premier League.
Dynamo Kyiv
The match will be played on neutral ground, further denting Dynamo Kyiv’s prospects. Until recently they topped the Ukrainian Premier League, but three consecutive draws with mid-table sides have cost them first place. Alarmingly, the Ukrainians have shipped seven goals in their last three outings. In each of those games, they conceded equalisers after the 85th minute, with Obolon (2:2) and Karpaty (3:3) both striking in stoppage time.
Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace, by contrast, are rock solid. They’ve risen to third in the Premier League, boasting the joint-best defensive record alongside Arsenal — just three goals conceded. Dean Henderson has been immense in goal, while the team’s organisation and resilience mark a clear evolution from last season. Even champions Liverpool couldn’t break them down, with Crystal Palace emerging 2:1 winners at Selhurst Park. Crucially, this progress has come despite the summer sale of Eberechi Eze, showing how well-drilled the team have become under Oliver Glasner.
Dynamo Kyiv vs Crystal Palace Prediction
Given Dynamo Kyiv’s ongoing defensive frailties and Crystal Palace’s Premier League pedigree, the gulf in class is undeniable. The Ukrainian side’s habit of crumbling late on only adds to the concerns.
