Adam Williams presents his prediction for the NHL match.
Travelling to northern Alberta has become almost a futile endeavour lately. Victory at Rogers Place seems nearly impossible unless you're a league leader like the Washington Capitals (3:2) or the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers (6:5). With the Seattle Kraken sitting 12th in the standings, they don’t fit that profile.
Edmonton Oilers
Even snatching a single consolation point from Rogers Place is a rarity—only twice in the last 10 games has an opponent managed to do so. The Oilers rarely score fewer than three goals, which has only happened once recently, in a victory over the Los Angeles Kings (1:0). NHL's top scorer Leon Draisaitl (35+39) continues to produce at a pace of 1.5 points per game. And when Draisaitl has a quiet night, others step up. In their latest victory over the Buffalo Sabres, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored twice, including the game-winning goal.
Seattle Kraken
The Seattle Kraken also claimed a win in their last match, but it was at home against one of the league's bottom-dwellers, the Pittsburgh Penguins (4:1). While the Kraken appeared dominant in creating chances, especially in the second period, they only managed to break the deadlock late in the second frame, and even then, on a power play. By contrast, the Oilers tend to overwhelm their opponents well before that point, as seen in their 5:0 dismantling of the Vancouver Canucks by the 33rd minute of last week’s game.
Edmonton Oilers vs Seattle Kraken Prediction
In their most recent encounter, the Seattle Kraken couldn’t hold their own against the Stanley Cup finalists even on home ice (2:4). On the road, the task looks even tougher. The Edmonton Oilers have won all five of their last home games against the Kraken, three of them by two or more goals. Expect a similar outcome here.
