Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
The departure of Eintracht Frankfurt’s top scorer Omar Marmoush is unlikely to deal a critical blow to the team's attack. The Frankfurt side are already working on signing a replacement for the Egyptian, and against Ferencváros, the skills of Hugo Ekitiké and Mario Götze should suffice for a victory.
Eintracht Frankfurt
A sharp downturn at the end of 2024, with five matches without a win, highlighted areas Eintracht Frankfurt need to improve. However, in three January Bundesliga rounds, they secured three wins and produced 7.11 xG, the third-best during this period. Hugo Ekitiké scored in two consecutive fixtures for the team, with 1+2 in six Europa League rounds. Currently, the Germans are in the top eight of the European competition, and a victory over the Hungarian side will likely secure them a place in the Round of 16.
Ferencváros
A strong run of three wins helped Ferencváros consolidate their position in the playoff zone, but a thrashing by PAOK (0:5) pointed to systematic defensive errors. The Greek side managed 3.06 xG with seven shots on target. Varga Barnabás returns to Pascal Janssen’s squad after a suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards, but with the Hungarian Championship still on break, Ferencváros lack match practice for over a month, which will affect the result.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Ferencváros Prediction
Since October 24, Eintracht Frankfurt have won seven of their nine home appearances. Ferencváros are unlikely to be an obstacle for the top-four Bundesliga side, who have found their form.
