Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Bundesliga match.
Eintracht Frankfurt are quietly emerging as dark horses in both the Bundesliga top-three race and the Europa League, where they recently dispatched Ajax (5:3 on aggregate). Stuttgart, meanwhile, extended Sebastian Hoeneß’s contract during the international break but continue to struggle with defensive consistency.
Eintracht Frankfurt
Heavy defeats to Bayern Munich (0:4) and Bayer Leverkusen (1:4) earlier this year forced Frankfurt to rethink their approach. The shift to a more counter-attacking style has paid off — striker Hugo Ekitike has flourished with two goals and two assists since early March, plus a hat-trick for France U21s during the break. Statistically, Frankfurt sit second in the league for xG (55.53), showing their consistent attacking threat.
Stuttgart
Stuttgart remain an attacking force — their 50.93 xG ranks fourth in the league — but defensively, they’ve been poor. With 43 goals conceded and 41.94 xGA, they own the worst defensive record among the Bundesliga’s top 10 sides. The collapse against Bayer Leverkusen (3:4) in their last outing — having led by two — was symptomatic of recent form. Over their last five games, Stuttgart have claimed just two points and conceded 12 goals — only Werder Bremen (14) have been worse.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Stuttgart Prediction
Eintracht beat Stuttgart (3:2) away in November, back when Omar Marmoush was still involved. This time, they’ll look to capitalise on Stuttgart’s shaky backline again, and at home, they’ve got the firepower to do it.
