Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA match.
The players previously met at the ITF level. Back in 2015, both matches went to three sets, with each player securing a victory. Will Limoges witness another lengthy encounter nearly a decade later?
Ekaterina Alexandrova
Over the years, the Russian has progressed significantly. She is currently ranked 28th in the world and is the top seed at the Limoges tournament. Ekaterina hasn't played since mid-October at the Wuhan Masters, where she reached the quarter-finals. She lost in a three-set thriller to the local player XinYu Wang (6:4, 5:7, 6:7). However, that was an outdoor hard court, and now they'll compete indoors. She has played only four indoor matches this year, but her record is positive (3-1).
Tamara Korpatsch
In contrast to the Russian, the German has been playing regularly in recent months. She recently competed in Angers, France, but only made it to the second round, losing to the third-seeded American Alycia Parks (6:7, 2:6). At 29, Korpatsch continues to alternate between WTA and ITF tournaments, with her 172nd ranking position hindering her access to top-tier events.
Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Tamara Korpatsch Prediction
The opponents faced each other not too long ago as well. In 2022, Alexandrova played in the qualifiers for the Madrid Masters, where she encountered Tamara Korpatsch. The German put up some resistance but ultimately faltered (4:6, 4:6). Resistance is possible here as well, but the Russian is expected to have the edge in the end.
