Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Doha match.
Iga Świątek remains the tournament’s top favourite, having not lost in Doha since 2021. Elena Rybakina is competing in Qatar for the second time, with her best result so far being last year’s final. However, Elena’s first serve has been inconsistent, which could be a crucial factor against the dominant Polish player.
Elena Rybakina
The Kazakhstani player eased through the early rounds, defeating Peyton Stearns (6:2, 6:4) and Rebecca Šramková (7:6, 6:2). However, her first serve has been below par—hitting only 54% of first serves in play and recording just 10 aces in two matches. This is not enough against an elite opponent. Additionally, Rybakina has lost four of her last five matches against top-10 players.
Iga Świątek
Just like in previous seasons, Świątek has been dominant in Doha. After a comfortable win over Maria Sakkari (6:3, 6:2), she fought through a challenging three-setter against Linda Nosková (6:7, 6:4, 6:4). The Pole thrives in long rallies and has been unstoppable in Doha for three straight tournaments. In 2024, she has already won 11 of her 13 matches, and over the last three seasons, Świątek has won five out of seven encounters against Kazakhstani players.
Elena Rybakina vs Iga Świątek Prediction
Świątek has already beaten Rybakina this season (7:6, 6:4). With Elena’s inconsistent serving, it’s difficult to see her breaking Świątek’s 14-match winning streak in Doha. Expect Iga Świątek to capitalise on Rybakina’s serve, secure multiple breaks, and dictate the match.
