Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Roland Garros match.
Iga Swiatek remains the dominant force at Roland Garros as she sets out to defend the title she claimed last year. Emma Raducanu, meanwhile, is still finding her way back to the top level. Raducanu’s limited experience on clay courts makes it hard to envision a breakthrough win against such a formidable opponent.
Emma Raducanu
Emma Raducanu clearly has talent, but she has yet to prove herself on clay. Since the start of 2023, she has played only 14 official matches on this surface, winning 8. Her run to the fourth round in Rome was a bright spot, but she struggled to maintain consistency against elite opposition. Notably, she has yet to beat a top-10 player this season.
Iga Swiatek
Iga Swiatek arrives in Paris with a formidable record, having won 35 matches and lost just 2 on these courts. This season, she reached the final in Madrid and has notched up six wins from eight matches on clay. In her opening round at Roland Garros, she dispatched world No. 42 Rebecca Sramkova with minimal resistance (6:3, 6:3) and converting four break points. Swiatek leads the head-to-head against Emma Raducanu (5-0), with all victories coming in straight sets.
Emma Raducanu vs Iga Swiatek Prediction
Iga Swiatek is in outstanding form and continues to underline her dominance at Roland Garros. Given Emma Raducanu’s modest record on clay, a straightforward win for Iga Swiatek looks the most probable outcome.
