Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WTA Wimbledon match.
Marketa Vondrousova (WTA No. 73) continues to impress, having knocked out McCartney Kessler (No. 30) in the opening round. Now she faces another higher-ranked opponent — Emma Raducanu, who currently sits just inside the top 40. Could the Czech deliver another standout performance?
Emma Raducanu
Raducanu faced Mingge Xu (No. 318) in her opener and breezed through it 6:3, 6:3 — exactly the result one would expect given the gulf in class. She was solid on serve, landing 75% of her first deliveries, and maintained focus throughout. Even in what was essentially a routine win, she made just 12 unforced errors against 25 winners.

Vondrousova, meanwhile, notched her sixth straight win with a 6:1, 7:6 victory in the first round. She handled her service games well, winning 59% of points and firing five aces. Just as impressively, she was excellent on return, taking 56% of games on her opponent’s serve. That performance builds on her strong showing in Berlin, where she beat Diana Schneider, Ons Jabeur, and Aryna Sabalenka en route to the title.
Emma Raducanu vs Marketa Vondrousova Prediction
It’s genuinely difficult to call a clear favourite here. Neither player is likely to dominate outright, which makes a three-set contest a strong possibility.
