Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
David Moyes clearly knows how to get Everton winning again, but their third consecutive victory won’t come easy against a Leicester side that just stunned Tottenham Hotspur. Both teams will have to battle hard to secure three points.
Everton
Despite ownership changes and the club being run as more of a commercial project, there is still a strong family atmosphere at Everton, and the return of one of their most successful managers of the 21st century has given the squad a noticeable boost. That feel-good factor has translated onto the pitch, as Everton have now won two matches in a row. Their win over Tottenham Hotspur was unusually high-scoring, while against Brighton, they returned to their defensive solidity, keeping a clean sheet in a low-scoring match.
Leicester City
Leicester climbed out of the relegation zone for the first time since Round 17 after their shock victory over Tottenham Hotspur. A crucial factor in their success has been Jamie Vardy – when he scores, Leicester almost never lose (six wins in seven games). However, before his goal against Tottenham, Vardy had gone seven Premier League matches without scoring – and during that time, Leicester suffered seven consecutive defeats, scoring just twice. Defensive issues remain a massive problem. They haven’t kept a clean sheet since 2 November and regularly concede two or more goals per match.
Everton vs Leicester City Prediction
Even against an in-form Jordan Pickford, Leicester are capable of scoring, but their defence is too fragile to expect a win. Everton are not the most prolific side either, so a low-scoring affair is likely. The safest bet is a double chance on the hosts combined with under 2.5 goals.
