Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
David Moyes couldn't gift Everton's fans a victory on his first attempt after returning to the club, but he gets a second chance now. Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, are still recovering from their North London derby defeat.
Everton
The primary reason Everton find themselves at the lower end of the table, winless in six matches, isn't just poor finishing; it's the lack of both quantity and quality of chances created. While they are fifth from bottom in underachieving their xG (-8.63), they are the worst in terms of xG generated (21.63). This has led to only one goal in their last six Premier League outings. Everton have a decent defence (1.3 goals conceded) and a quality goalkeeper (Jordan Pickford ranks fifth in saves with 63), but it's impossible to consistently gain points without scoring.
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham have just found the reliable goalkeeper they needed before the transfer window. In the cup match against Liverpool, Antonín Kinský made six saves and was named player of the match, while against Arsenal, he saved three shots, conceding only once. The second goal came courtesy of their own player, Dominic Solanke. Without him, it could have been worse, so Angelos Postecoglou and all fans can hope those 16 goals conceded in five games prior to the Czech's arrival are a thing of the past.
Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction
Whether Tottenham will score is another matter. Their chances are higher than Everton's, but we would advise against betting on a high-scoring match or an away win. We are opting for a low number of goals from the home side.
